VA – Not A Minute Of Silence… A Lifetime Of Struggles!

For too long, since always, a bad wind has been blowing in the metal scene. Behind the cliché of the party-going metalhead, a lot of putrid ideologies and behaviors have been swarming, from racism to nationalism, from sexism to the trivialization of rape, including the normalized expression of antisemitic, negationist, homophobic, transphobic and masculinist opinions and ideologies. We don’t want to make metal a disarmed “safe space”, nor a folkloric, bland and para-commercial counter-culture, but one of the many fields of an open war against the State and capitalism, their norms, their cops and judges and the extreme right goons that most often serve as their reserve army. Metal being only a reduced model of this shitty world, the extreme right recruits there and also spreads its ideas that we have chosen to fight.

“J’Espère Que Tu Danseras Quelque Part” reviewed on Veil of Sound

This industrial-influenced record shows another reason why one should follow Non Serviam and all their side-projects. Biollante is musically so good that it has been spinning my head for days now. Yes, it’s not funky and flowing like the aforementioned mainstream rappers from France but it is much more interesting, that’s for sure!

Industrial/cyber/grind/extreme music anarchists collective based in Paris, France. This is their new single from “We Are Nothing But Your Krill” mini-album, out on the 5th of August, 2022 via Trepanation Recordings. Guest vocals for this track by Richard Johnson and Jay Randall from Agoraphobic Nosebleed.

We Are Nothing But Your Krill on No Clean Singing

The longer second song is more flagrantly assaulting but also more bizarre. The vocals alone are an asylum filled to overflowing, with uber-distorted gutturals trading places with ghastly howls, terrorizing shrieks, ecstatic singing, and maybe a bit of mumbling. Around the voices, the drums hammer and cavort and the music blares, blazes, skitters, and spins around in mad dances. Bowel-loosening electro-beats come and go, along with bunker-busting detonations, mercurial fretwork frenzies, tonalities that strike like ice-picks to the ear drums, and other sonic ingredients too numerous and too invasive to count. You might want to set aside some time after listening to pick up your teeth from the floor and stop your head from spinning.”
