Fort de l’influence de groupes tels que Death Grips, IC3PEAK, Swans, Atari Teenage Riot, Techno Animal, The Bug ou Scorn, Biollante naît en 2020 comme un side-project du collectif anonyme de Black Metal/Indus/Baroque parisien Non Serviam dans l’urgence immédiate de la composition d’une chanson à offrir à un ami récemment incarcéré (« Le monde me revient crié »). Un morceau qui associe toutes celles et tous ceux (une douzaine de personnes) qui ont alors voulu exprimer leur solidarité dans un genre qui échappait jusque là de fait à l’éclectisme du collectif : le Hip Hop, dans son expression la plus sombre et industrielle. La collaboration avec, entres autres, un jeune collectif de rappeurs, le Gobscrew, se poursuit jusqu’à composer un premier album et constituer un groupe-kaiju aux limites des genres, on y retrouve de la guitare et des claviers, mais aussi de la harpe, du clavecin, des samples d’une vérité terrible, des rythmiques complexes, de la poésie et du chant sous toutes ses formes, et toujours une unité de composition électro qui laisse la place au flow des rappeurs sans craindre les croisements, les chevauchements et les ruptures de styles. Biollante s’attache à aborder, en français dans le texte, des sujets aussi difficiles et complexes que le suicide des enfants, la révolte et le soin, les maladies mentales, la prison et l’enfermement. Ce qui constitue ces éléments dégenrés en ensemble cohérent, c’est Biollante, ce kaijū qui allégorise les plaies de l’existant, les pense et les panse en détruisant le monde, et dont les métamorphoses, tour à tour rose épanouie ou smog toxique, métabolisent les passions qui emplissent ce monde.

We are very happy to announce the release, on May 13th, of Biollante’s first album, a collaborative project of Industrial Hip Hop, entitled “J’espère que tu danseras quelque part”, it is available in CD format (self-production) and in cassette format (Trepanation Recordings, UK). Strongly influenced by bands such as Death Grips, IC3PEAK, Swans, Atari Teenage Riot, Techno Animal, The Bug or Scorn, Biollante was born in 2020 as a side-project of the anonymous Parisian Black Metal/Indus/Baroque collective Non Serviam in the immediate urgency of composing a song to offer to a recently incarcerated friend (“Le monde me revient crié”). A piece which associates all those (a dozen people) who wanted to express their solidarity in a genre which escaped until then from the eclecticism of the collective: Hip Hop, in its darkest and more industrial expression. The collaboration with, among others, a young collective of rappers, the Gobscrew, continues until composing a first album and constituting a genre-bending band-kaiju, we find there guitar and keyboards, but also harp, harpsichord, samples of a terrible truth, complex beats, poetry and vocals under all their forms, and always a unity of electronic composition which leaves the place to the flow of the rappers without fearing the crossings, the overlappings and the ruptures of styles. Biollante tries to address subjects as difficult and complex as children’s suicide, revolt and care, mental illness, prison and confinement. What constitutes these disengaged elements into a coherent whole is Biollante, this kaijū who allegorizes the wounds of the existant, thinks them and bandages them by destroying the world, and whose metamorphoses, by turns blooming rose or toxic smog, metabolize the passions that fill this world.
